Cultural Trips
The world beyond the school gates is one of the most powerful classrooms we have. Cultural trips at TOWIS connect curriculum learning to real places, real experiences, and real memories — the kind that stay with a student for life.
Our trips programme is planned to enrich and extend what students are learning in school — bringing subjects to life, developing independence, and building the kind of cultural awareness and global citizenship that the TOWIS Student Profile and our Cambridge curriculum demand. Trips are not an add-on: they are a planned part of the school experience.
Cultural Events
TOWIS is an international school — and that means our community brings together cultures, languages, and perspectives from across Myanmar and around the world. Our cultural events celebrate that diversity and ensure every student feels that their heritage is valued and visible.
Cultural events at TOWIS connect to the Empathetic and Respectful qualities of the TOWIS Student Profile — developing in students a genuine appreciation of different ways of life, different stories, and different perspectives. They also connect to our Global Perspectives programme and to the UN Sustainable Development Goals that run through our assembly and curriculum themes.
Academic Events
Academic Excellence and Engagement go hand in hand. Our academic events take learning beyond the lesson and give students the experience of applying their knowledge in real contexts — with an audience, under pressure, and for a purpose.
Academic events at TOWIS include our termly ACE Days — whole-school celebration days that mark the end of each quarter — as well as subject-specific competitions, World Book Day, the art exhibition, the STEM Fair, spelling and quiz competitions through the House system, and the Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE examination cycle. The House system’s spelling competition and general knowledge quiz are also key academic events, making intellectual challenge something to be proud of — not just in the classroom, but in front of the whole school.
