Who We Are
The One World International School Yangon (TOWIS) is a British international school offering the Cambridge International pathway from Early Years (age 3) through to IGCSE (age 16). Founded in 2023 by Chairman Mr. Deepak Neopane and part of The One World Academy, TOWIS is registered with the British Council (Centre BU001, Yangon) and holds Cambridge International accreditation.
TOWIS is a school built around one conviction: that every child, regardless of nationality, background, or prior educational experience, deserves access to the highest-quality British international education — and deserves to be known, supported, and challenged as an individual from the moment they walk through the door.
What We Offer
Cambridge International Pathway
Cambridge Early Years (EYFS 1 & 2) · Cambridge Primary (Years 1–6) · Cambridge Lower Secondary (Years 7–9) · Cambridge IGCSE (Years 10–11). Each stage builds directly on the previous, providing a coherent, internationally recognised progression from nursery to university entrance.
English Medium Instruction
All teaching and learning at TOWIS is delivered in English. This is not simply a language choice — it is the foundation of the Cambridge qualification pathway and the key to global university access. All TOWIS students are EAL learners, and our teaching is designed with that reality at its centre. Academic English is developed progressively across every subject and every year group.
Holistic Education
TOWIS educates the whole child — not just the examination candidate. Our ACE Framework (Academic Excellence · Character Development · Engagement) ensures that every student develops the knowledge, skills, values, and positive attitudes to life and learning needed to thrive in and beyond school. Character, resilience, empathy, and a growth mindset are as deliberately taught as Mathematics and English.
University Pathways
Cambridge IGCSE qualifications — awarded by Cambridge International Education and recognised in over 160 countries — are accepted by universities worldwide as proof of academic ability and readiness for further study. A TOWIS student who completes their IGCSE programme holds internationally portable qualifications that open doors to universities in the UK, Singapore, Australia, the US, and beyond.
Myanmar National Curriculum
Alongside the Cambridge pathway, TOWIS delivers the Myanmar National Curriculum in Myanmar Language across all year groups. Students are proud members of both the local and the global community. TOWIS honours that dual identity.
Who We Welcome — An Inclusive School
TOWIS is an inclusive school. We welcome:
• Local Myanmar families seeking a British international education for their children
• Expatriate and international families relocating to Yangon from any country
• Students transferring from other international schools or national curriculum schools
• Students with no prior experience of the British curriculum
• Students who are new to English as a language of instruction
• Students of any religion, nationality, gender identity, or ethnic background
TOWIS does not select students on the basis of prior academic achievement or existing curriculum knowledge. We assess learning potential — the capacity to learn and grow — and our admissions process is designed to give every applicant a genuine and fair opportunity to demonstrate that potential, regardless of where, how, or in what language they have previously studied.
TOWIS is not an elite school that admits only students who already know the curriculum. It is a school that believes in potential — and in the power of excellent teaching to develop that potential into achievement. Inclusion & Special Educational Needs — An Honest Note
TOWIS is committed to inclusive values and to meeting the needs of as wide a range of learners as possible. However, we are equally committed to being honest with every family about what we can and cannot provide.
As a growing school, TOWIS does not currently have specialist SEND support staff on site. Students with significant or complex learning needs — including those requiring one-to-one specialist intervention, behavioural support specialists, or assistive technology — may not be fully served by our current provision. Where the admissions assessment indicates a profile consistent with a significant learning difficulty, the Principal will meet with the family before any offer is made to discuss needs and provision openly.
Our goal is always to find a way to include — but never to mislead a family into enrolment at a school that cannot genuinely meet their child’s needs. Honesty and transparency at the outset are in every child’s best interests.
The Cambridge Curriculum — A Rigorous Academic Pathway
Families should be aware that the Cambridge International curriculum — particularly at IGCSE level — is academically demanding. It is not a simplified or entry-level curriculum. It is the same internationally recognised qualification framework used by top international schools across Southeast Asia, the UK, and worldwide.
Proficiency in academic English is not optional at TOWIS — it is the medium through which all learning takes place. Students who arrive with limited English are warmly welcomed and comprehensively supported. But families should understand that developing academic English is a commitment that requires effort both inside and outside school, and that progress takes time. We will always be honest about where a student is and what they need.
