Keeping Everyone Safe

TOWIS Values

At TOWIS, positive behaviour and a growth mindset are at the heart of our school community — we grow together through respect, responsibility, and resilience.

Keeping Everyone Safe — Our Non-Negotiables

TOWIS is a place where every person has the right to feel completely safe — physically, emotionally, and socially. This right is absolute. It is not conditional on performance, personality, or popularity. It applies to every student, every day, without exception.

To protect that safety, TOWIS maintains a small number of absolute, non-negotiable boundaries. These are not about being punitive — they exist because a school where people do not feel safe is a school where learning cannot happen:

Non-Negotiable Why It Matters
No physical violence — ever Every person has the right to physical safety. No provocation justifies striking, pushing, kicking, or harming another person. Physical violence will always result in immediate removal from the classroom and a formal restorative process.
No targeted name-calling or verbal abuse Words cause lasting harm. Targeted name-calling, deliberate humiliation, and verbal abuse damage students' confidence, wellbeing, and sense of belonging. They will always be taken seriously.
No deliberate antagonising or intimidation Creating a climate of fear — even through 'joking' that is not mutual — is unacceptable. Students have the right to come to school without dread.
No mobile phones during the school day Mobile phones are switched off and stored in bags from entry to dismissal. This protects focus, reduces social pressure, and eliminates the most common pathway to online conflict and distraction.
No bullying — in any form Physical, verbal, relational, and online bullying are all taken seriously. A single unkind incident is addressed; a repeated, targeted pattern activates our full anti-bullying protocol immediately.

If your child tells you they do not feel safe at school — for any reason — please contact us immediately. Safeguarding concerns are always the first priority. Every concern is taken seriously. No child should come to TOWIS feeling afraid.
